At this point in life, I must’ve read the book of Psalms approximately 1,134 times. I’m joking, of course.
Seriously, though, there’s so much in this book that can really encourage people. For me, it’s something I read on a weekly basis – especially if I’m having a bad day.
Although I’ve read through the Psalms many times, it’s amazing how new things reveal themselves. Recently, I found some encouraging words in the 121st chapter. Here, it highlights God’s protection, provision and love. It’s a short chapter and it says this:
I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.
(Psalm 121, ESV)
The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.
